Blue-winged Teal ducks swimming in the pond on a rainy Sunday morning, April 19, 2015, “Wishes.”

It is a treat to see these healthy blue-winged teals. We have watched them decline in northern Calif. migration areas, so to see this and your other photos of them warms my heart. 😀
It is sad to hear that their population is declining there. I wonder about shrinking bird habitats both where they live summer and winter and on their migratory routes. Sunday was the first time I had seen the Blue-winged Teal ducks. The pond in the park next door is small. When I moved here, the area was a corn field. They are planning on building many things in the park, but so far, it is nice and empty with a marsh area and the small pond and wildflowers and grasses. I am hoping that some of the Blue-winged Teal ducks stay around and nest in the marsh. I had a lot of fun watching the little family of Mallard ducks that nested there last year. I am keeping a watch on the activities so there might be more photos in the coming months. 🙂
