An Early Summer Garden

As this year draws to a close, I wish for you Peace and Joy and time to rest before the new year begins.

On the seventh day of summer, the flowers displayed their yellows, greens, blues, and purples with a dizzying intensity.

I was captivated by the bumble bees in the Great St. Johnswort flowers. An indigo bunting in the tree overhead, a goldfinch on the fence, and a cardinal in the woods serenaded the bees and me. The bumble bees flew to the flowers from the field on the other side of the fence. They went back and forth all morning.

On this third full day of winter, the bumble bee queen bees are safely tucked away in their underground nests deep in a long winter’s nap.
