I wish for you a happy day.

I promised my sister a post of flower photographs a couple of months ago. Back then, the snow was drifting against the sliding glass doors and piling up on the deck of her home. She was wishing for flowers on the deck instead of the snow.

Last Tuesday was a warm spring day. The sun was shining. The breeze was soft. Two House Finches were resting in the tree by my kitchen window. I went looking for spring flowers.

On Friday evening, I was photographing the flowers on a tree by the rock terrace when I heard the squeak of a Chipmunk. He was peering out at me from the rocks. His tail flicked up and down with every squeak. I was in his space and he wanted me to know it!

It rained on Saturday and Sunday. I went running in between the storms on Sunday morning. After the run, I went to the park. A wet American Robin was tucked in the branches of a tree. A Hawk watched from the top of a street light. Two Mallard ducks fed in the puddles on the side of the road. They were unconcerned by the passing cars. A Killdeer splashed in the pond and then shook the water off of his feathers. A flock of Blue-winged Teal ducks were swimming and feeding in the pond. I counted 15. One Pied-billed Grebe swam with the ducks. He would disappear into the water and then resurface a distance away. He looked like a speck on the water and, at first, I thought that my eyes were deceiving me.

I returned to the pond on Monday morning to see if the ducks were still there. Two Blue-winged Teal ducks flew out of the marsh as I walked by. They headed to the pond where three others were swimming.

I liked the pics of the killdeer and the flowers on the 16th. 🙂
It is always fun to look at old family pics to see if you or if other family members can remember what was going on. I think most people have something close to amnesia for events that happened before they were four or five though.

I think this is the ducks’ nesting season so every morning when I walk my dog I see Mr. and Mrs. Duck waddling around. Because dogs only see two colors the dog doesn’t see the ducks initially. But when the ducks move or the dog picks up the scent she gets quite agitated and the ducks remove themselves from our path.

Your joy for the natural world comes through loud and clear in these photos.

      Hi Shady 🙂
Thanks for visiting and your kind words. 🙂 I am happy you liked the tree flower photos. I brought the camera with me when I went to the grocery store at lunchtime that day. I passed the trees on the way there and circled back on the way home. The petals don’t stay on the flowers very long once they have opened. In the spring, there are frequent storms here with strong winds. The Killdeer was really splashing about in the water. 🙂 I took a short video of his activities which might end up attached later.

I saw a pair of Blue-winged Teal ducks fly out of the marsh both Sunday and Monday morning. I am wondering if they will make a nest in the marsh. Last year, a family of Mallard ducks had a nest in the marsh. It was fun to watch the little ones. 🙂

Thank you for the flower pictures 🙂 There are finally a few crocus blooming here. Don’t remember the moment in the photo but sure remember those haircuts – yeesh!

      Hi 🙂
Your love of puzzles started at a young age. 🙂 The plants are growing rapidly here. I noticed the flower buds on the trees one weekend and the next weekend the flowers were blooming. Little leaves have appeared on most of the trees. Hopefully, you will be planting flowers before too long. 🙂

Your lovely gallery of flowers and wild birds is delightful, Sarah. I really enjoyed the blue-winged teal video too (commented there). Photo of you and your sister brought a smile to my face. 🙂
